The envelope was marked "Deceased" by A.G. Allman, Capt, 6th Armored Group on May 5th 1944 and stamped
"Return to Sender". The reverse of the envelope is postmarked by the U.S. Army Postal Service May 18th 1944.
6TH ARMORED GROUP 1944
The 6th Armored Tank Group departed New York on January 8th 1944 and arrived in England January 17th
1944. The unit was redesignated the 6th Armored Group at Littlehampton, England on February 1st 1944. On
June 6th 1944 the 6th Armored Group assaulted Normandy, France and operated as a line armored group until
July 16th 1944.
