| SERVICE HISTORY OF WILLIAM H. MUHLENBRUCK William H. Muhlenbruck was born on October 7th 1924 and enlisted in the United States Army on April 12th 1943 in New York City, New York. His identification tag or "dog tag" lists his next of kin as his mother Catherine C. Muhlenbruck, 373 Broadway, Hicksville, New York. His religious preference is listed at Protestant. On October 13th, 1944 B-24J 42-78647 was piloted by Captain Kenneth R. Elliott and took off with her crew from Castelluccio, Italy. This aircraft was assigned to the 724th Bomb Squadron (H), 451st Bomb Group (H), 15th Air Force. The target was Bombing Mission 134: Ostereichische Motor Works, Vienna Austria. Heavy flak shot down eight bombers on October 13th, 1944 to include B-24J 42-78647. Staff Sergeant William H. Muhlenbruck was the right waist gunner on B-24J 42-78647. S/Sgt Muhlenbruck would be taken prisoner by the German Army and was held as a Prisoner of War at Stalag Luft IV until he was liberated on May 26th 1945. William H.
