German WWII Air Force Winter Electrically Heated Leather Flight Jacket, above two photos.
This jacket, designated as the Deutsche Luftwaffe Winter Elektrisch Leder Fliegerjacke, Gerät Nummer 142-52-A-1 (Model
Number), was introduced at the end of WWII for high altitude flying, and is most often affiliated with late-war fighter-jet pilots,
flying the Me-262 and He-162. The jacket is constructed from fine-grade gray leather with a purple velour collar. Electrically
headed connecting points for the gloves are located on each sleeve and at the inner waist to connect the matching leather
pants, if worn. The jacket closes with six large buttons and has two zippers at the sleeve cuffs. The electrical heating wiring is
present inside of this jacket.
The example, shown above, was produced without a Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast and without a nomenclature tag. These
details may indicate very late-war production. This jacket was directly acquired by QuestMasters Museum from the U.S. WWII
Veteran that brought it home to the U.S. in October 1945.
